The Cold Is Closing In and Sudan Is Not Ready

The Cold Is Closing In — and Sudan Is Not Ready

A Winter of Hunger, War, and Displacement

Sudan is enduring one of the world’s most catastrophic humanitarian crises.
Since the outbreak of war in April 2023, entire cities have been destroyed, hospitals abandoned, and millions of people pushed from their homes.

Now, winter has arrived — bringing a new layer of suffering.

Families are sleeping outdoors under thin tarps. Children shiver through the night with no blankets or food. Mothers go days without eating so their children can have the little that remains.

For millions, a hot meal is the only warmth they will feel all day.

This winter, UMMA Foundation is on the ground bringing not just food, but warmth, dignity, and survival to Sudan’s most vulnerable families.

Sudan’s Winter Crisis in Numbers

  • 🍞 24–30 million people face acute food insecurity — half the country is going hungry.
  • 🏚 Millions displaced, living in makeshift shelters with no protection from winter cold.
  • 🧒 Children are the majority in siege-affected cities like El Fasher, cut off from aid.
  • ⚕️ Cholera outbreak is spreading fast due to unsafe water and freezing temperatures.

Behind every number is a family fighting to survive the cold, hunger, and fear.

Our Winter Mission: Hot Meals for Survival

Hunger in Sudan is deadly. Cold makes it worse.
This winter, UMMA Foundation is delivering fresh, hot meals to families in displacement camps and conflict-affected areas.

Because warmth doesn’t only come from blankets — sometimes it comes from a single plate of food.

Your support helps us provide:

  • 🍲 Hot Meals — cooked and served daily in displacement camps

Every meal is warmth. Every meal is dignity. Every meal is hope.

Why Give Now — Before the Cold Gets Worse

Sudan is facing a perfect storm:

  • Hunger is rising faster than aid can reach.
  • Winter temperatures are dropping sharply.
  • Millions are displaced without shelter or blankets.
  • Siege areas are cut off, running out of food entirely.
  • Children are dying from malnutrition, cold, and disease.

A hot meal right now is more than nourishment — it’s protection against winter and a chance for families to make it through another day.

This is the moment to act.
